Picture Book Draft 2
I live in little J-ford town. My dad is a carpenter, and my mom is a vet. My best friend is Anna; we hang out together most of the time. We play hide and seek and basketball in the park with our friends. Anna's favorite place to hide is behind the trees. Because the trees give shade and equal disguise, Anna likes to hide there. Every day we play from early morning to late afternoon. We sometimes play from late afternoon to late at night. One early morning Anna asks me to go out to play, "James want to go and hang out in the park.”
"Sure," I yell out of my window to Anna. I took off my pajamas, then slip on my jeans and a T-shirt. I jump into my Nike shoes and bounce my basketball out of the door. I find my way to Anna, and we walk down the illuminated road to the park side by side. Every block seems to grow quieter. Each passing block lined with houses. Anna breaks the silence," What should we do in the park?” I twist the ball on one finger while walking.
“Maybe we should play a game of basketball," I reply to Anna. Before our eyes can adjust we’re at the park. The park is the only place left that had a batch of trees left. The leaves are as green as ever, and the grass is shining a golden color in its bath of dew. The air smells of fresh leaves and grass, as well as, sweat. Anna and I walk toward the basketball court.
In the court; it is easy to spot our friends. “Yo what’s up “asks David who is one of my friends.
“Nothing much you guys in for a game?" I reply.
“Sure " David answers.
" Ok so us three against the other three “I say boldly. The game was on...
The results, we won the match, and Anna and I head home. “Bye David, “me and Anna say.
" Let’s go home. It’s getting late,” I whisper to Anna with a tired look.
“Sure, come on James; let’s run back “yells Anna excited.
" Bring it,” We started to run laughing in joy as the world seems right in everyway.
The next morning, I wake up feeling broken. My leg muscles are heavy from rest,
"Why am I running in such a hurry," I think to myself. "Come on James we have to hurry. They are trying to remove the last batch of trees in the park," Anna says in a sad tone.
"What! That is like the last few trees in this town. Why would they do that," I yell to Anna. Right before our eyes we see workers with chainsaws cutting down the trees. We just watch unable to stop what is happening. My Dad looks at me with a face tire from work. We can’t move, our shoes are held in place on the cement floors. The last tree is cut, and taken away. Anna is crying her once so precious favorite place to hide now gone. I try my best to make her feel better but nothing seems to stop those tears. I walk Anna home and walk home alone in a fog of confusion.
I walk up the rough step way of my door way. I walk inside without making a noise. I walk into the living room where my dad sits reading a news paper. "Dad why did they cut the trees," I ask my dad.
“We need the wood to build a house. Wood comes from trees, so we cut trees for wood; It is reality," my dad replies in a careless tone.
"But you don't have to remove the trees in the park. Why...Why do you have to cut the trees that are so dear to us? The trees are Anna’s favorite place to hide why do you have to destroy that place which is dear to us?” I scream at the top of my lungs at my dad.
“How can I do anything... they didn't listen to my cries. I know things are complicate, but it is something I can't stop," my dad say literally screaming...
"Dad why can't you see what is going on. The streets are so deserted of trees, there aren’t any birds... The streets are quiet and lonely. There is just this quiet loneliness. Trees are home to many animals, so why cut and totally desert this town," I scream at him. I walk out of the room and slam the door behind me. I lay still staring at the ceiling as sleep took over me.

I walk to Anna and we walk down the early road. We stay quiet for the whole walking trip to the park. Before us is the batch of trees that was cut down yesterday. Anna reaches into her pocket and takes out a few seeds and start planting them. I join her. We work on planting the seeds with all our heart. “They need to grow fast. These seed shall restore this place,” I mummer to Anna.
“Yes they should,” We both say at the same time as things start to fit back in place.

authors note
Trees, are a major part of the environment. It is home to many animals ,and it takes on a role in global warming. Animals that make their homes on trees are bugs and birds. When trees are cut these poor animals lose their home. Trees absorbs carbon dioxide which is then used in the process of photosynthesis. Photosynthesis is when plants use carbon dioxide to make a food source it use to live. This source of simple sugar are called glucose. Glucose is made when carbon dioxide is altered with many other materials such as sunlight ,and oxygen to produce a food the plant can use as a resource. This resource is called glucose/ simple sugar (notes from Ms. Fernadez). Trees goes through a cycle. The start of the cycle is when trees absorb oxygen and carbon dioxide. The carbon are either used in the process of photosynthesis or kept inside the tree. This carbon can be released to the ground under the tree. From this process when the tree dies it will simply release all the carbon it has absorbed. Furniture's has carbon too so trees remove parts of the oxygen it absorbs and releases most of it for further info visit "forestsformainesfuture.org". Trees being cut is happening. From this point of the U.S to the other end of the world forest are slowly being cut down from many tree reduce to very few trees.
There was once two trees in front of M.S 51. Those two trees were cut down. We lose our shade and it made M.S 51 look deserted. This is how a tree affects me. There were many times how i wonder is my backyard missing something. When spring came the tree in my backyard wasn't growing. This made my backyard look sad missing that one tree was a lot.
This book was written at my point of view of trees being cut. How tree can mean memory. Every tree has it's story. This is a fiction about how trees can affect and cause people pain and joy.
There may be many trees but each tree has a story from it's birth till it's death. Trees can mean a lot but there isn't a tree that is ever alike.

Research Assighment # 2
There are problems all over the world. Mexico can be said to have one of the major problems. Drug wars are wars over the control of drug trades. People are dieing, wars are raging we shall make the change. Is people dieing everyday every week worth the price of hapiness? The next victim may be YOU.
The saturday two weeks ago 20 people has died in Cuidad Juarez of Mexico. Each day people die. You are never safe when you are in a country that is in a drug war. This will never stop unless we do something. We can stop this from happening but are we. We are comsuming such a large amounts of drugs ourselves. We need to be aware of that Drugs aren't anything good. Steroid, can boost your muscles but have a side effect that can tear you apart. All drug are poison. One sip can be considered as two the more you don't know what they are doing but they are damaging each and every part of you body.
Why fight for such useless items that can kill you? Is fighting among ourselves right? From the site http://www.latimes.com/news/nationworld/world/la-fg-mexico-juarez-20101108,0,7528721.story I found and knew about this story. 20 people dieing in one day. Gangs fighting for the control of teritory. Why do we do this for such little need? No one really knows
http://www.latimes.com/news/nationworld/world/la-fg-mexico-depravity-20101109,0,5270636.story This site states that people are being tortured and killed for no reason. Killed for just being alive. Peoples body chopped up ruined and destroyed. People are heartless why isnt anything happening to stop this? are people that worthless? This is insane. We are losing the aspect of shock. People can't tell the pain the torture all have been through to get to the point they were killed. If you were them how would you feel. Painful regreting? This is how they would feel if they were you.
Life is random why do people kill no one knows. We shall appretiate life not regret it. We are only given life once why do we want to end other people's opportunity to live I don't know. Is it fun? Why I don't know.

Reasearch assighment #1
Pollution is becoming a major part of life, yet no one has done anything about it. Each year the average summer temperature is warmer than the last. When my teacher Ms . Galang, assigh us our research assighment I was able to further understand the issues our enviorment is facing. The enviorment is slowly affecting our daily lives. The last time our summer actually set a high summer temperature average was in the 1990s. The summer of 2010, we broke the highest temerature average of the 1990s. The damage that is done is very scary. This summer a lot of people has gotten sick from the severe heat.
Each year is another danger, every year is another threat. The ice is melting, bacteria's that was once trapped inside their icy prism are being released. Each year a new threat, each year more death. This year extreme temperature around the world has caused a scary amount of people getting sick. 36 million of our population live's in these area of the top five highest recorded temperatures in the night. When our poles melt completely our world will be in a verge of great danger. The poles is our mirror, our mirror that reflects the dangerous ray of our sun. Each slight increase in temperature can matter.
http://www.nrdc.org/globalWarming/hottestsummer/default.asp This source states the impact that is stacking upon our shoulders. This source clearly states the impact of the temperatures increasing. People becoming sick, yet has anyone done anything? We can stop this, we can end this, we are the hope, but we can all be be the person that shall save us.
http://www.willamette.edu/news/library/2008/04/oregon_secretar.html this may not be a source made of pure data but it reminds me of something. In the movie The Day The World Stop Spinning it states a issue about global warming and it basically went too hollywood that it doesn't exactly states global warming.
Global warming is a huge thing but at the same time it can be stopped, but why don,t anyone try to stop it. In the year of 2006 in the poles a crack as large as Rhode island broke off. Each year such things can happen. In the movie The Incovenient Truth it showed a graph how the temerature rose sharply to such a point where we might end ourselves.

The Hunger Games, is a book that applies the thought of many social problems and developes the idea in another time period... The Future. This book takes place in the ruined United States. Fighting among ourselves over power is that worth lives? This book states it crystal clear that if a nuclear war starts it will destroy many continents many lives will be lost. Humanity may not survive. Maybe a few may but those few will have to have a really hard time just to survive. Hunted by each other to survive, Hunted by animals.
Suzanne Collins, takes this idea and many others and merges it to create this wonderful series, The Hunger Games. People are treated like in the early 1600's. Unfair not considered people perhaps slaves in the eyes of the capitol. The districts are The lifeline of the capitol but the capitol treats them like they are slaves. All the people except for them are considered worthless. This is the second revolution to fight for freedom and a better goverment.
This idea of a revolution stuck because it's like a idea thats ancient and oldfassioned but with more modern technology. It clearly states that the hunger game was to make not that the districts belonged to the capitol. THEY CONTROL ALL OF YOU this is their meaning of not superior. They call childrens killing each other for survival the ultimate amusement. They are like the whites and the districts are the slaves or shall I say blacks.
Another nuclear war can mean the end of humanity. After that one war the people are becoming more supreme in technology but they are decreasing in basic rights. Can technology make people blind? The global warming slavery all those advancement creating a fog that blocks the sunlight. This is just like in the movie the fast and the furious where the president like removed that person who conducted the race. It showed that some people are above you but you still have your rights.

If you were ever to ask me what do you think of the enviorment around you my reply will be considered harsh. A world full of pollution, A society where no one cares about the enviorment. Littering, offshore drilling, fossil burning... all of these no one cares. The side effect of the impact can mean then end of earth. Our weather each year getting worser than the last. Temperatures rising rapidly... Is anything done?
M..a..y..b..e
There's people trying to make such changes. Speeches about such effect poles melting. Water level rising. one person may make much of a difference but each thing that produces waste as oxygen counts. Each car, each cow, ... each human. As the variables starts to increase the impact starts to rocket up. Every person counts and every person has he power to make a change. One person may seems like nothing but, as the amount increases so will the impact. Each person is leading us one step closer. There may be billions of step but everyone can make a change.
Why do half the people don't mind the change? Can it be they don't care or too lazy? All this just gives a harder life to your sons and your son's son and so on. Each year the sea level increases each year the threat is increased each year. You can't ecpect your sons to fix the problem. When that time comes the mess can not be changed. People doesn't know, people just think this thought of global warming may never affect the enviorment.
Why do people lie that they will stop the habit of littering? Is having life easy worth sacrificing our enviorment? This experience brought me to many injustice. The litter the pollution is all around us. We all feel it but don't move a muscle to stop it.

Mother to son
On this poem about mother to son all I can say is WOW. The author Langston Hughes some how compares life to a crystal staircase. The crystal stair (a perfect life) while he puts in many ways where life can be painful and hard but at the same time good.
Well, son, I'll tell you: life for me ain't been no crystal stair. This sentence Langston Hughes hammered in his peice tells how life can never be perfect. Life always cracks, splinters, broken steps but never stairs that are flawless. Life is hard, life is so precious because it is hard. The fight for survival goes on even if you experience pain you must push yourself forward not the other way around.
Spliters, tacks, boards torn up... slowing you perhaps killing you. Pain or no pain life goes on. Difficulties that can tear someones heart apart, sadness that can cause someone to suicide. Life is full of pain.
Pain can stand for the death of someone perceious to you or betrayal from a friend. When a difficulty of death of someone really dear to you your heart breaks apart. It is worse than dieing but instead it is eternal torment. Someone really dear can cause you to lose the passion to live thats what the obstacles mean.
One theory that I thought of was can time and life be related? If you compare them they both cant be rewinded. If you try to rewind time it is impossible. That is like a order how if you try to rewind time you must turn back which is impossible because time cant be rewinded.
This poem has a really deep meaning to it that is why it is so spectacular and why it is so good.

Appretiation final draft
A cover that looks moody and unatural doesn't represent's a books personality. When I first saw the cover of The Lion The Witch And The Wardrobe by C.S Lewis my first impression was a bad book. Not giving it a second chance or perhap too scared to give it a second chance. The cover just gives me this impression that this book is boring, and would waste my time. There was this one day that I was introduced to this book by one of my friends so I got myself to pick this book up. It may seems weird but the power of boredom overcame my fear, and my friends encouragement saying this was a good book gave me passion. I picked this book up as a joke, and an acheivement in life. As of for now my journey to uncover the meaning of this book began was I ready for it or am I still not mature enough?
I first read this book in fourth grade. I didn't really read it the cover just somehow over whelmed me. I basically flipped through the pages stopping among pictures, pretending that I have read and finished the book. Unable to seek the truth but isn't this the reason why I picked this book up, why this one book stood out so much is because its weird, and hard to explain why its bad and how its good. In my memory a good and memorable childhood book are the ones that seems spectacular in the cover. Being spectacular doesn't means bad it means it has a story... a very deep story one that requires unraveling.
This book is about how four childrens goes through a journey, maybe for friendship or maybe going through what destiny has planned. The eldest child was Peter he seems to stick out in this book alot. He first came to this land because of Lucy's will. He went through the meaning as a hero and experiencing the truth of terror. Going through this journey not for his own personal desire but for a more sole purpose / Lucy's.
When peter first came to this land he was scared, he just wanted to go home rather than staying in a place he doesn't know about nor exist in any map nor has anyone been to and has came back from. All Peter wants is to go home not stay in this place called Narnia. Peter's journey has just begun. This is just a minor meaning of terror as he goes along his tough road he will find terror more severe and undecriptable as scary.
I am really not a fan to fantasy including childrens but this one stood out because of its good craft and storyline / conflicts.
The first obstacle that peter faces was Betrayal. Is being betrayed by his own little brother just like getting bit by a fly, is EXTERNAL more painful than INTERNAL pain?
Peter's bravery, and daring traits, can it be related to Aslan? Can Edmund's betarayal, and bad doings be, related to The White Witch? Can thieir conflits be caused from their relating traits. If Peter's conflict started before he even Crossed to Narnia then can this mean that it started before he crossed to Narnia well yes. Peter's conflict started when Edmund started to sneer and jeer at Lucy. Edmund thought he was more supreme than anyone, he hated Peter because he thinks Peter is acting so supreme. This conflict for each other was brought with them to Narnia
Is selling out your brothers and sisters worth the reward of desserts?
I can personally relate to this type of conflict because me and my brother fights a lot, we always resolve and find a solution to the problem. Peter and Edmunds problems gets resolved just like mine.
Peter faces this lost knowing it would happen. Jeering and sneering against Lucy was the first sigh of his bad desire. The second clue was how Edmund tries to cover up his journey to Narnia. Peter faces it biting his teeth and not looking back but forward. Nothing doesn't hurt external pain can heal but internal pain can heal but internal pain may not heal at all. One last injury that may or cannot be healed is pain in the feeling / heart. Pain that can be healed only by desire that is fulfilled.
This journey won't end but it will have a end. 有始有终(When things tend to begin it feels like it will never end but in reality it will always have an end.)
This one book is just about how four kid jouneys through an unbelievable adventure. But it was just about how four kids need to first save Narnia but there is a long way to go. The fight for survival the fight for justice the conflict of characters is what this book is so special about. How C.S Lewis puts a small and simple conflict gets put in such a situation that gives it a twist, so strong that channels this one conflict into a fullydeveloped problem.
Whenever I reread a book, I always a deeper and deeper connection and meaning to certain things. The unpatient and greedy Edmund, Edmund's reason for betrayal why certain things happen, and why certain things don't. Life can never be the same unless something kicks in and give it a nice twist. A perfect life is boring life won't be meaningful unless they have something that can end it or a memorable memory. Everything is in cronological order is everything fate or is life a chess game played by god apon us? No one really knows until the day truth is uncovered.. our own story, our own book our, own mystery and our own plain cover.
You need to be certain of one thing, life is important because of the struggle for survival.

Entry 7
The lion and the which and the wardrobe was a book by C.S Lewis or Jack Lewis which his friends call him. This series was said to be his master peice people all around the world loves it.
One thing I know this is just like all fairy tales with a perfect ending. When it says when 2 son of adam and 2 daughter of eve sits on the throne it would bring eternal peace just to say that is impossible. If there is peace then there is darkness if there is life then there is death this is how the world balances itself. If you replace peace with light then eternal light? If there is light then there will be darkness if there is morning then there is night if one thing goes missing the balance of the world would come to an end. Everything has a opposite which balances that one positive side of its out. Everything has its own weakness, nothing is perfect nor is life so if you put that in conclusion that prohecy or fairytale can just be false. But this is fairy tale we talk about a different world a different balance this is not the real world this is a magical world everything can happen.
As you can see C.S Lewis has a long story the connection with love from C.S Lewis is unexplainable it is very complex. Things alway has a balance just as in the book if there is good then there is bad in this case the good is Aslan and the bad is the Witch. Things always have a balance if it is ruined a story won't be a story living won't be living balance can be said as a theme but this isn't about it this is about the life of C.S Lewis and the start of NARNIA.
When I flipped the cover page of this clollector edition(That I bought with 10 dollars (TT^TT) ) I noticed that this book was dedicated to Lucy Barfeild the God Daughter Of C.S Lewis. The moment I saw it I looked it up this is where it got me to Lucy Barfeild. She was the daughter of Owen Barfeild. I mean Lewis really cared and loved this god daughter of his. She was mentioned in his book as Lucy Pevensie. Lucy had a multiple sclerosis and wasn't able to feed herself. Lewis actually made her as a character and people sent hello mails or mails asking if she was Lucy Pevensie from the book. This act saved lucy from her misery she was shocked when she first saw things that was happening Lewis in my opinon did this because he wanted to cheer Lucy up.
Lewis said , "(Thanks to my book I got this peice of info) I wrote this story for you, but when I began it I had not realized that girls grow quicker than books. As a result you are already too old for fairy tales, and by the time it is printed and bound you will be older still. But some day you will be old enough to start reading fairytales again". This showed how much Lewis actually cares about lucy a book dedicated to her and encouraging her that age doesn't matter for books if you want to read a book go ahead take it from the shelf dust it and read it again. There is a time you will be too old to be reading fairytales but you would be older to read fairy tale again says even if you are old you can always grow old enough and start reading again.
This gives me a slight thought can everything the personality of Lucy from the real life be the same in the book. If the character Lucy was inspired by Lucy then can this mean that every aspect of Lucy is like her? The curiosity and adventurous behavior like the real Lucy or can it just be how Lucy wants to be? One thing I know this tale can be just encouraging lucy. One thing I know this is just like all fairy tales with a perfect ending. Blog post 2 childhood book
One painful, and dissapointing thing in the book ,"The Lion The Witch And The Wardrobe" was betrayal. It came up alot through out the book. How Edmund betrays his brother and sister for his own desire. I always wonder if such desire worth 4 lives or does four lives worth the name as king or the desire of food? Well Edmund was that person that thought desire worth more than his family including his brother and sisters. He lost his heart to deserts "Turkish Delights"!
Edmunds betrayal happened the first time he came to Narnia. The white whitch fooled Edmund on bringing his sisters and brothers to her. Just for those good tasting sweets he thought it was worth it just for those sweets is it worth it. Well no betrayal can be said the one thing that caused the most pain. Edmund doesn't know the rule of Narnia that if you betray someone or anyone that single person that caused the betrayal belogs to the witch. Edmund doesn't know it and caused pain not just normal pain to his brother and sisters but wider. He caused alot of pain to the narnians that believe in Aslan. They didn't know but if they did their last hope would be ruined.
Edmund's great betrayal just to be more extraneous made Aslan sacrifice his life just to save Edmund. This brought so much pain to lucy she was really alike to Aslan that happening stunned her.
After just right there i noticed that betrayal can bring pain. Betrayal can cause death betrayal is something very destructive it has such force to destroy someones heart and forever change how someone looks at you.

Entry 4 Revised version no camma
A theme of the book Charlotte's web by E.B Whites that I really like is the connection between life and death. This one theme appears allot through the book. One example of life is when Wilbur was born it express the meaning of life. One example of death is how Charlotte eats a fly alive.
Life is like a miracle being able to walk, cry, die is all a miracle. Being born is a miracle, all living thing is a miracle people, animal, bug life is all a miracle.
Life as of being borned as of Wilbut being born can be a crime. The weak can't live why? Just because you are not like the others? Wilbur can relate to this certain why. Wilbur was born small he was not like his other brother and sisters. He was SMALL!!! because he was small Fern's dad wants to kill him because he thought Wilbur will bring problems. He thought that Wilbur will die anyway just because he is weak. Life can be painful, one chance is what you have. One chance make a mistake you die... in Wilburs situation he would've had no chance but Fern saved his life.
Death can be described as to die or the end of life. If you ever had had the chance to live you will always have the chance to end/die. If you were ever alive you will always have choices a split. One road to die One road to live you have one choice you have one chance.
If you were ever to describe death and life as a force Life can be consider the force that protects you from death. Just like how a spider must die because of age life's veil will die off unable to fend for the chosen him. spider die of age beacuse its life spam the veil will colapse death then takes you and you die unable too struggle unable to escape. Death is like the thing that life protects you from death is the ender you can't run you can't hide death will always come for you.
One wrong choice you will die. If you were to relate a wrong choice with charlottes's web when the fly gets eaten by Charlotte will be the best one. The fly made the wrong choice of flying into the horrific but beautiful web of charlotte is like walking the road of to die. If it chose the choice to live it will just ignore the web and countinues its life until the veil of life dies apon that creature. A split ONE ROAD TO DIE ONE ROAD TO LIVE.
As you can see life can be said to be deaths total enemy. Life protecting its chosen lifeform death killing destroying all life form. You can't run you can't fight it death is a unstoppable force. Without lifes veil you can't escape just one second is useful. Patient can be used to prevent foolish choices take your time rather than rushing. If you don't then that one mistake can cause your frail/easily broken veil to destroyed. Some civilization actually accepts death as a daily life you can't run its life.
